I think it’s about time I started to write more reviews about whatever I watch/play. Part of me has always wanted to throw my two cents onto a page for others to see, but a combination of laziness and lack of confidence has discouraged me from doing so. So from here on out, whenever I feel like it, I intend to write a review whenever I can.
For instance, I have started to watch this anime called “Seto no Hanayome” (called “My Bride is a Mermaid” for the English dub). It’s about a drowning boy who is rescued by a mermaid. It turns out the mermaid is actually the daughter of a local mermaid yazuka group, and there is this crazy mermaid law that dictates that either the person who saw the mermaid or the mermaid who revealed their fish form must be executed. However, they can get around this rule if the person and the mermaid marry each other. Antics are bound to occur with this setup, as the first episode actually made me LAUGH a few times.
So far, it’s an intriguing anime. I watch anime with the Japanese language track with English subs (mainly because non-Japanese dubs tend to suck). I can keep my Japanese knowledge intact as I practice my English-proofreading skills with the subtitles that flash across the screen (I honestly don’t know why so many Americans hate subtitles). I look forward to seeing what this series has to offer with its typical anime kookiness.
