Universal Storytelling Part 4

“Boku no Tegami” (My Letter) by Zone.

English Translation

“I love you.”
I can’t simply say those words as I watch the evening stars
Maybe I won’t be able to give it you but I’ll write you a letter now…
Beginning with, “How are you?  I’m doing fine…”
The words overflow and afterwards tears spread before my trembling pen
As the sun quietly rises…

We walked home, just the two of us
I didn’t know what else to say but,
“Will you look at that?
The moon seems a little bigger today…”
I see you looking up from the side
But there’s something I actually want to tell you
The moment our eyes connected
I became shy all of sudden…

Still, this is the only thing I can say to you
I love you more than anyone in the world…

*I’m awkward and shy
But I have one dream
People laugh and call me silly
But I believe in this path…
We probably don’t make a good match
I’m a faint star
But I’ll show you that I can shine
When I do I’ll be able to tell you…

I look in the mirror every day
My sighing figure is always reflected
I’ve grabbed the phone so many times
But in the end, I just stare at it and never call

Still, this is the only thing I can say to you
I love you more than anyone in the world…

If only I had more courage then I could change everything…
If only I could be a little cooler…
But you always gently smiled for me
And were the only one who believed in my dream…

(Repeat*)

(Spoiler Warning)
This is a touching song, plus I enjoy how the music video tells quite the story. It is very heartwarming how the guy has one last letter at the end that he hopes the girl will read while she is in Heaven.
