Retaining Memory of the Japanese Language
It pains me sometimes that my Japanese knowledge is very iffy at the moment. I learned a lot of Japanese back in high school and college, but it’s hard to retain Japanese when you don’t exactly use it every day.
Luckily, I do enjoy watching anime, and this helps remind me about Japanese grammar, vocabulary and kanji. Oh, the kanji …
With literally thousands of symbols, kanji is quite a daunting challenge to remember. The traditional method of learning kanji is … well, just to learn them through strict memorization. In Japan, children must learn hundreds of kanji every grade year, so their knowledge of kanji gradually builds up for them as they reach adulthood.
For everyone else who tries to learn Japanese as outsiders, memory tricks are definitely helpful.
